إِنَّ الْحَمْدَ لِلَّهِ ,نَحْمَدُهُ ,وَنَسْتَعِينُهُ وَنَسْتَغْفِرُهُ , وَنَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنْ شُرُورِ أَنْفُسِنَا وَمِنْ
سَيِّئَاتِ أَعْمَالِنَا ,مَنْ يَهْدِهِ اللهُ فَلَا مُضِلَّ لَهُ , وَمَنْ يُضْلِلْ فَلَا هَادِيَ لَهُ , وَأَشْهَدُ أَنْ
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ
بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
وَٱلۡعَصۡرِ (١) إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ لَفِى خُسۡرٍ (٢) إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ
ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَتَوَاصَوۡاْ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوۡاْ
بِٱلصَّبۡرِ (٣)
By the time (1) verily man is in loss. (2) But not those who believe and work righteous deeds, and enjoin
upon each other the truth and enjoin upon each other steadfastness. (3)
My brothers and sisters,
Human beings are inclined towards getting more fame, wealth, publicity, bigger designations. Our
society considers these parameters are the benchmark of success. A man is considered successful who is
more wealthy, more famous, has huge businesses, has higher authoritative power.
And all our efforts are getting towards getting these milestnoes in life to get more successful. In Surah al
Asr, ALLAH SWT is negating all of these parameters. And telling us, that ALL the mankind is in LOSS.
Except for the ones who are with 1) Imaan. 2) The ones who do Amal e saleh. 3) bring one another
towards the Truth of ALLAH SWT, his deen, and towards his Rasool SAW. 4) and recommend each other
of being patient with the hardships.
Our life’s focus is the life of akhirah, so we have to change the focus from the worldly parameters
towards these 4 simple indicators. Our value structures, daily challenges will change when our focuses
change.
By Al-'Asr (the time). (1) Verily, man is in loss, (2) Except those who believe (in Islâmic Monotheism) and
do righteous good deeds, and recommend one another to the truth (i.e. order one another to perform all
kinds of good deeds (Al-Ma'ruf) which Allâh has ordained, and abstain from all kinds of sins and evil
deeds (Al-Munkar) which Allâh has forbidden), and recommend one another to patience (for the
sufferings, harms, and injuries which one may encounter in Allâh's Cause during preaching His religion of
Islâmic Monotheism or Jihâd). (3)
We ask ALLAH SWT to keep us devoted to HIM and HIM only, in our daily matters, and our focus be
towards the life of Akhirah which is a better and everlasting.

أَقُولُ مَا تَسْمَعُونَ وَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ لِي وَلَكُمْ مِنْ كُلِّ ذَنْبٍ فَاسْتَغْفِرُوهُ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الغَفُورُ
