إِنَّ الْحَمْدَ لِلَّهِ ,نَحْمَدُهُ ,وَنَسْتَعِينُهُ وَنَسْتَغْفِرُهُ , وَنَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنْ شُرُورِ أَنْفُسِنَا وَمِنْ سَيِّئَاتِ أَعْمَالِنَا ,مَنْ يَهْدِهِ اللهُ فَلَا مُضِلَّ لَهُ , وَمَنْ يُضْلِلْ فَلَا هَادِيَ لَهُ , وَأَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَƒبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ
صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ وَباَرِكْ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلىَ آلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ وَسَلِّمْ تَسْلِيْماً كَثِيْراً
My brothers and sisters,
ALLAH SWT in Surat al Furqan describes the characteristics of a believer. We must try our best to attain these characteristics from this list.
وَعِبَادُ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَمۡشُونَ عَلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ هَوۡنً۬ا
And the (faithful) slaves of the Most Gracious (Allâh SWT) are those who walk on the earth in humility, .
وَإِذَا خَاطَبَهُمُ ٱلۡجَـٰهِلُونَ قَالُواْ سَلَـٰمً۬ا
and when the foolish address them (with bad words) they reply back with mild words of salam (kindness).
This is the first characteristic is that they show the best Akhlaaq. We must show good character and avoid conflicting discussions. Even before prayers, siyam or any Huqooq ALLAH, we are taught to show good characters towards each other .
وَٱلَّذِينَ يَبِيتُونَ لِرَبِّهِمۡ سُجَّدً۬ا وَقِيَـٰمً۬ا
And those who spend the night in worship of their Lord, prostrate and standing[]
Second characteristic is worship their Rubb at night. So praying tahajjud comes next. This is the best of the private aamaal that a person does, is praying tahajjud.
Number 3:
وَٱلَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا ٱصۡرِفۡ عَنَّا عَذَابَ جَهَنَّمَۖ إِنَّ عَذَابَهَا كَانَ غَرَامًا
And those who say: “Our Lord! Prevent from us the torment of Hell. Verily! Its torment is ever an inseparable, permanent punishment.”
So these are the people who are constantly making dua to ALLAH.
وَٱلَّذِينَ إِذَآ أَنفَقُواْ لَمۡ يُسۡرِفُواْ وَلَمۡ يَقۡتُرُواْ وَڪَانَ بَيۡنَ ذَٲلِكَ قَوَامً۬ا
And those, who, when they spend, are neither extravagant nor tight-fisted, but hold a medium (way) between those (extremes). (67)
Number 4 is that these people when they give charity, they neither give very excessively, nor they’re stingy, so they follow the middle path. And they follow the middle path in all aspects of life.
وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَدۡعُونَ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَ وَلَا يَقۡتُلُونَ ٱلنَّفۡسَ ٱلَّتِى حَرَّمَ ٱللَّهُ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَلَا يَزۡنُونَۚ وَمَن يَفۡعَلۡ ذَٲلِكَ يَلۡقَ أَثَامً۬ا
And those who do not invoke any other ilâh (god) along with Allâh, nor kill such person as Allâh has forbidden, except for just cause, nor commit illegal sexual activity – and whoever does this shall receive the punishment[] (68)
Number 5 is the mention of major sins, that these people do not commit major sins, like making partners in ALLAH, or killing someone, or other disgraceful activities. Ibaad ur Rahman do not commit these sins.
وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَشۡهَدُونَ ٱلزُّورَ وَإِذَا مَرُّواْ بِٱللَّغۡوِ مَرُّواْ ڪِرَامً۬ا
Number 6:
And those who do not witness to falsehood, and if they pass by some evil play or evil talk, they pass by it with dignity.
The Ibad ur rahman when they meet a gathering which wastes time, or are involved in evil talk, they ignore that gathering and stay focused towards ALLAH SWT.
وَٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُڪِّرُواْ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ رَبِّهِمۡ لَمۡ يَخِرُّواْ عَلَيۡهَا صُمًّ۬ا وَعُمۡيَانً۬ا
Number 7: And those who, when they are reminded of the Ayât (proofs, evidences, etc.) of their Lord, they do not fall as if they are deaf and blind.
Which means that they are receptive of knowledge and ayaat of ALLAH, and when Naseeha is given to them, they accept and benefit from it.
وَٱلَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا هَبۡ لَنَا مِنۡ أَزۡوَٲجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّـٰتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعۡيُنٍ۬ وَٱجۡعَلۡنَا لِلۡمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا
Number 8th is the last one
And those who say: “Our Lord! Bestow on us from our wives and our offspring the comfort of our eyes, and make us leaders for the Muttaqûn” (pious people ).”
These are the people who desire to have righteous family, righteous spouse which turn into the comfort in their lives. And they ask ALLAH to give them the family that becomes the coolness of my eyes. And make us the Imam of Muttaqi people, which means the role model for the Muslims.
أُوْلَـٰٓٮِٕكَ يُجۡزَوۡنَ ٱلۡغُرۡفَةَ بِمَا صَبَرُواْ وَيُلَقَّوۡنَ فِيهَا تَحِيَّةً۬ وَسَلَـٰمًا (٧٥) خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَاۚ حَسُنَتۡ مُسۡتَقَرًّ۬ا وَمُقَامً۬ا
(74) Those will be rewarded with the highest place (in Paradise) because of their patience.
What an excellent muqaam , and as a place to dwell forever.
I advice myself and you to go to the end of Surah al Furqan; read this last page, with translation. May ALLAH grant us to follow these 8 characteristics to be the best of Ibaad ur Rahman.
