إِنَّ الْحَمْدَ لِلَّهِ ,نَحْمَدُهُ ,وَنَسْتَعِينُهُ وَنَسْتَغْفِرُهُ , وَنَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنْ شُرُورِ أَنْفُسِنَا وَمِنْ سَيِّئَاتِ أَعْمَالِنَا ,مَنْ يَهْدِهِ اللهُ فَلَا مُضِلَّ لَهُ , وَمَنْ يُضْلِلْ فَلَا هَادِيَ لَهُ , وَأَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ
صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ وَباَرِكْ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلىَ آلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ وَسَلِّمْ تَسْلِيْماً كَثِيْراً
My brothers and sisters,
Today we are going to talk a little about Surah al Jumu’ah. The ayaat are connected, yet we can divide the surah in 3 parts.
First part talks about the characteristics of ALLAH SWT, Prophet SAW and the believers, and the current state of the ummah
The second part talks about the people who have been given the book, the torah, and their relationship with the book
And the final part is about day of Jummu’ah and prioritizing the Jummu’ah prayer over worldly affairs.
We will talk about the first part of surah today:
يُسَبِّحُ لِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ٱلۡمَلِكِ ٱلۡقُدُّوسِ ٱلۡعَزِيزِ ٱلۡحَكِيمِ
Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth ˹constantly˺ glorifies Allah—the King, the Most Holy, the Almighty, the All-Wise. (1)
هُوَ ٱلَّذِى بَعَثَ فِى ٱلۡأُمِّيِّـۧنَ رَسُولاً۬ مِّنۡہُمۡ يَتۡلُواْ عَلَيۡہِمۡ ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ وَيُزَكِّيہِمۡ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلۡحِكۡمَةَ وَإِن كَانُواْ مِن قَبۡلُ لَفِى ضَلَـٰلٍ۬ مُّبِينٍ۬ (٢)
He is the One Who raised for the illiterate ˹people˺ a messenger from among themselves—reciting to them His revelations, purifying them, and teaching them the Book and wisdom, for indeed they had previously been clearly astray—
If we stop here for a moment, we will see that there are 4 characteristics glorifying ALLAH SWT in 1st ayah, and 4 ways that Rasool ALLH SWT transformed the society and spread the deen of ALLAH; this is mentioned in the 2nd ayah.
ALLAH SWT Is ٱلۡمَلِكِ he is the King, and Rasool ALLAH is reciting the signs of ALLAH SWT to the people يَتۡلُواْ عَلَيۡہِمۡ ءَايَـٰتِهِ
ALLAH SWT is ٱلۡقُدُّوسِ he is the most holy, and Rasool ALLAH is purifying the people with the teachings of the most holy وَيُزَكِّيہِمۡ
ALLAH SWT Is عَزِيزِ, the Almighty ; and Rasool ALLAH is teaching the sahaba and all the generations after, the book of ALLAH the Almighty يُعَلِّمُهُمُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ
ALLAH SWT Is ٱلۡحَكِيمِ, the All-Wise, and Rasool ALLAH is teaching the wisdom of Deen, wisdom of duniya, and wisdom of akhirah to his ummah. He has perfected the teachings and made it easy for all of us to follow.
4 names of ALLAH, and 4 ways of the seerah of Rasool ALLAH spreading the deen of ALLAH.
We ask ALLAH SWT to have mercy on us, and allow us to learn the deen of ALLAH and spread it the way it was spready by Rasool ALLAH mentioned in these ayaat.
