إِنَّ الْحَمْدَ لِلَّهِ ,نَحْمَدُهُ ,وَنَسْتَعِينُهُ وَنَسْتَغْفِرُهُ , وَنَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنْ شُرُورِ أَنْفُسِنَا وَمِنْ سَيِّئَاتِ أَعْمَالِنَا ,مَنْ يَهْدِهِ اللهُ فَلَا مُضِلَّ لَهُ , وَمَنْ يُضْلِلْ فَلَا هَادِيَ لَهُ , وَأَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ
My brothers and sisters:
Today, we are going to address the blessings and lessons of Surah al Kahf. This is a very well known surah, It is reported in one Hadith, our Prophet salallahu alaihi wasallam encouraged us to read it every week. in one hadith, he said, whoever reads it every Friday, shall have a light shining from him to the next Friday. and we
are also told that whoever memorizes the first ten verses of surat al-kahf, they will act as a protection from the dajjal, the antichrist.
A quick summary of surat al-kahaf. This surah is called surat al-kahf because the story of the cave is mentioned in this surah. In fact, this surah has four stories
in it and all of these four stories revolve around the theme of persecution.
The first of these four stories is the persecution for the sake of religion that a group of young men were persecuted by their peoples and they found shelter in a cave and hence the surah. It is like the shelter that we turn to when we are being persecuted. the entire surah is about protection from persecution.
The second is the fitna or the temptation of money. what to do when we are being tempted with money.
The third is the potential problem of knowledge, when it does not have a positive impact. knowledge that should cause us to be humble, so its about the fitnah of knowledge.
And then the fourth is the fitna or the protection from power; and we are given role models and examples.
We are told about all of these four things. the fitna for the sake of religious persecution, the fitna of wealth, the fitna of knowledge, and the fitnah of power.
Whoever is tested with any of these four fitan, should overcome it by entering the cave of surat al kahf; and that
is why dajjal will come with all of these tests upon humanity and he will be testing and trying and inflicting trials and therefore by reciting surah kahaf, we will be protected from the
fitna of dajjal.
Therefore dear Muslims, make sure that you memorize the first ten verses of surat al-kahf because we want to be protected from ad-dajjal. Our Prophet salallahu alaihi wasallam said:
that whoever amongst you sees that the dajjal, (may ALLAH protect us), let him recite the first 10 verses of Surah al kahf, and he shall be protected from
the dajjal. so we should memorize at least first 10 ayaat of surah al kahf – if not the whole surah. This will act as a protection for us against the the dajjal.
May Allah the Most Merciful, bless us with the teachings of Surah al kahf, and grant us his favors and Rahmah.
